Cold plunges are just expensive ice baths. I don't get the hype.
My buddy spent $800 on a fancy tub for his garage last month. I just fill my regular bathtub with ice from the gas station. Costs me like $4 per session. He says his has filters and temp control. But my water gets just as cold and I'm not out a grand. Is this really a trend or just marketing?

honestly I've been doing the same thing for like a year now, a bag of ice from the corner store and my regular tub works fine. the whole filter thing is kind of a gimmick unless you're literally using the same water for weeks, just drain it after and you're good. save your money and buy a cheap thermometer if you're worried about temp, that's all you really need.

See I don't know, I tried the ice bag thing for a few months and my water got that weird film on top after like day three. A cheap filter bucket costs twenty bucks and I run the same water for two weeks without it getting gross. Plus the ice from the corner store melts fast and leaves a chlorine taste. I'd rather spend that money once than keep buying bags every other day. To each their own though, if it works for you it works.
