I thought those 'smart' water bottles were just overpriced junk until my sister got one.
She bought a HidrateSpark last year and I laughed at the idea of a bottle telling you to drink. But after seeing her actually finish 3 liters a day for 6 months straight, my own cheap bottle felt pretty dumb. The app reminders and the light actually worked for her, which made me think it's more than a fad for forgetful people. Anyone else have a gadget they mocked that turned out to be useful?

Wait, she actually drank 3 liters every single day? That's wild, I can barely finish one. I guess the bottle really does work if it got her to do that.

Right? I got the same bottle and it's crazy how much it helps. I used to struggle with one glass a day, now I fill it twice and actually finish it. Something about the time markers makes it feel like a game.

Totally get what you mean. I was the same with my fitness tracker. Made fun of my friend for needing a watch to tell her to move, but then she got me one for my birthday. Now I actually get up from my desk when it buzzes, and I've walked way more this year. It's that little push, like @kelly.patricia said, turning a basic thing into a game you don't want to lose. My cheap step counter never did that.

Wait, do people really need a glowing bottle to remember to drink water? My $5 plastic jug works fine, I just fill it up and sip during the day. If you need a light and an app to finish 3 liters, maybe the problem isn't the bottle, it's the person. I've been drinking about that much for years with zero gadgets, just a basic water jug and a bathroom nearby.
