My client's 'smart' fridge kept ordering the wrong milk and I had to fix it
I was cleaning a house in the new development off Elm Street last month, and the owner was freaking out because her fancy internet fridge had ordered six gallons of almond milk instead of whole. She told me, "It's supposed to learn my habits, but it's just wasting money." I had to unplug the thing from the wall for a full minute to reset it, which felt stupid for a $4,000 appliance. Is all this connected kitchen stuff just a dumb fad that makes things harder, or will it actually get good?

That unplugging trick worked for my neighbor's coffee maker too, these things just need a hard reset sometimes.

But what if we're just making things worse by always unplugging stuff? My old laptop started acting up every week until I stopped doing that. Maybe these machines need to stay on to work right, like a car that runs rough if you keep turning it off cold. We could be wearing out the power parts faster by yanking the cord all the time.

I used to worry about that too, but my router works way better with a reset now.

So how often are you resetting your router?
