Our attempt at family meditation time was a total bust

We jumped on the mindfulness bandwagon and set aside time to meditate together every night. It lasted three days before the kids got bored and my partner fell asleep. I think forcing quiet time like that is just a passing phase for busy families. We're better off with casual chats or walks instead of structured silence. This trend feels like a fad that won't stick around for most homes.

Structured quiet time can work if you adjust expectations. Maybe try shorter sessions or guided apps for kids instead of pure silence. Calling it a fad might just mean your approach needs a tweak.

Oh sure, because "guided quiet time" isn't a hilarious oxymoron already.

Actually, it makes perfect sense to me. Some of us need a little structure to find any quiet at all. Calling it silly just dismisses a real solution for busy people.

Maybe it just wasn't the right fit for your family. It really helped my household slow down, but we started with just five minutes. Not every trend works for everyone.
