PSA: My smart fridge's 'inventory scanner' broke and left me with spoiled milk for a week.
The camera inside my new LG fridge that's supposed to track what I have stopped connecting to the app after a routine software update last Tuesday. I kept thinking I had milk because the app said so, but the real carton had gone bad. Has anyone else had a smart appliance feature fail so completely that it changed your view on the tech?

My Samsung oven's smart preheat feature once got stuck in a software loop and just kept heating. I came back to a kitchen that felt like a sauna and a display reading 600 degrees. It completely fried a frozen pizza into a black brick. Now I just use the old school timer dial like my grandma did.

Yeah, that's rough. Had a similar thing with my own smart fridge's camera. Ended up just putting a cheap whiteboard on the door for a grocery list, which is way more reliable (and doesn't need a software update).

Honestly at this point I'm half expecting my smart fridge to start gaslighting me about what's in there. "No Max, you definitely have three avocados and that leftover pizza is still fresh." Then I open the door and it's just a science experiment growing in a Tupperware container. These things are turning our kitchens into trust issues simulator 2025.
