Shoutout to the guy who convinced me to try that 'silent disco' at a festival in Denver

I thought it was just a weird gimmick, but after 20 minutes with the headphones on, I realized it lets you control your own sound bubble completely. Has anyone else found a tech trend that seemed silly but actually solved a real problem?

Nice! I actually tried one at a festival in Phoenix, but my headphones let me pick from five channels, not just three like @derek_hill mentioned. It was a game changer for finding a good rock cover band tucked away on channel four. That tech really does fix the problem of bad sound bleed between stages.

Forget fixing sound bleed, it just trades one problem for another. You end up with a crowd of people all in their own little bubbles, not sharing the same experience. I saw a couple at a show last year where one was on the funk channel and the other was listening to bluegrass. They were dancing totally out of sync, not even looking at each other. It kills the vibe of a live show when everyone might as well be listening to different concerts in their own living rooms.

My buddy dragged me to a silent disco in Austin last year and I had the exact same reaction. At first I just felt stupid dancing in a quiet tent. But then I noticed I could switch between three different DJ channels on the headphones. That let me escape the generic main stage EDM and find a house music set I actually loved. It turned a crowded, noisy festival into a personal concert. What music did you end up listening to on yours?

Found the classic rock channel and embarrassed myself with air guitar.
