Spent 90 minutes trying to get ChatGPT to write a simple Python script that I could have done in 10
I needed a script to rename 200 files and kept fighting with the AI over syntax errors and wrong assumptions. Has anyone else found these tools just create more work than they save for basic tasks?

Guess you spent more time debugging the AI than you would have just coding it yourself lol.

Fiona's got a point there... it's painful when you realize you've been fighting with a tool longer than it would've taken to just do the manual thing. We've all been there, chasing that shortcut that ends up being a longer road. Really feels like the tool is running you instead of the other way around sometimes.

And that's exactly the trap, isn't it? We're so used to outsourcing everything to an app or a service that we forget the basics. @fiona_kim97 hit it on the head - you end up spending more time trying to get the shortcut to work than you would just doing the task. It's like that automatic coffee machine that needs 15 minutes of maintenance every morning before it makes a cup. We're trading a simple, known process for a fancy one that constantly needs babysitting. At some point you have to ask if the "help" is really helping, or just making you feel busy.
