Tried those foldable workout mats after seeing them at a CrossFit box in Austin

I was at my buddy's gym in Austin last month and they had those massive foldable workout mats everyone's been talking about. I figured they were just another gimmick, but after dropping a barbell on one and seeing zero damage, I'm starting to think they might actually be worth the $150 price tag. The floor protection alone seemed legit, plus they didn't slide around during box jumps. Has anyone here used one long term for home gyms?

Brought one six months ago for my home setup and the biggest hidden perk nobody talks about is how they help muffle the sound of weights hitting the floor. My downstairs neighbor hasn't complained once since I got it.

So @lewis.brian, did the padding really quiet things down that much...?

Wait @lewis.brian are you seriously telling me your neighbor hasn't complained even once in six whole months? I had a mat from day one and my guy still bangs on the ceiling every time I so much as drop a 5lb plate on accident. What kind of magical padding did you get exactly because mine barely does anything for the loud thud when I have to drop from a deadlift. I ended up having to buy those rubber deadlift pads on top of everything just to keep the peace down there.
