Blew $90 on a fabric that looked totally different in person

Ordered this heavy linen blend online from a shop in LA, and when it showed up the color was way off and the texture felt like burlap. I tried working with it but it just wasn't right for the jacket pattern I had in mind. Has anyone else had luck returning custom fabric orders or do I just eat the cost?

Most fabric stores won't take returns on cut yardage, so you're probably stuck with it. Next time ask them to send a swatch first, most shops do that for free.

Huh, do places actually let you order free swatches online without buying anything first?

Wait is that actually true about free swatches? I feel like some of the big online shops like Mood or Fabric.com will send you a swatch for like a dollar or two but not totally free lol. Maybe some smaller shops do it for free but I've never seen it. Either way the general advice is solid, getting a swatch is way better than guessing and ending up stuck with a whole cut you hate.
