Can we talk about a comment I heard at a gallery opening in Chelsea about 'wearable architecture'?

The curator said 'the best fashion design makes you feel housed, not just dressed,' and now I'm obsessed with the idea of structured, shelter-like silhouettes for my next collection.

What did you think of wearable architecture before this? I used to see it as just a gimmick, like those weird hats or stiff dresses you can't move in. But that line about feeling housed really got me, it's not about looking like a building but giving that safe, solid feeling. Now I'm picturing big, wrapped shapes and strong shoulders that make you feel protected. It makes the whole idea click in a way it never did before.

Honestly it just sounds like a fancy way to say "clothes with shoulder pads". I get the vibe but feeling "housed" is a stretch, it's still just fabric you put on to leave the house. Most people just want to look good and be comfy, not walk around feeling like a walking safe room.

That line about feeling housed is a great way to put it. It's more about the feeling of security than just looking stiff. I'm picturing big, wrapped coats and strong seams that make you feel held together, not trapped. It's a cool goal for a collection.
