Murphy's Law really loves a custom leather deadline.

The last time I ordered a custom leather bag, the shop quoted me three weeks. It took seven. Every single step had a delay, from the hide shipment getting stuck in customs to the buckle hardware being backordered. That's just how it goes with handmade goods. The more specific your request, the more things can go wrong. You're basically asking for Murphy to take a personal interest in your project.

My buddy's custom guitar took a YEAR because the wood had to dry.

Exactly. It's like the universe sees a custom order and decides to test every single link in the supply chain. Even the thread for the stitching can be on a slow boat from somewhere. You just have to build in a massive buffer and try not to check the tracking info every day.
