Pro tip: I picked a heavy cotton twill over a lighter canvas for a work jacket.

I was making a chore coat and needed fabric that could handle daily wear in my shop. The twill cost $22 a yard but it's held up for six months without any tears or fading. Has anyone else found a fabric that's tough but still easy to sew?

Always went for the lighter stuff myself, figured it was easier to work with. That twill price point is convincing me to switch it up next time.

Yeah, I get that, shanew59. I went for the light stuff once because I thought it would be simple, but my first stitch line looked like a drunk caterpillar made it. Took me three tries just to get a straight seam on a basic tote bag.

My old army surplus tent was made of 10-ounce duck canvas. That stuff outlived the truck I kept it in.
