Vent: My grandma's old sewing box made me rethink 'good' design
I was helping her clean out her attic in Toledo last month and found this little wooden box full of hand-stitched fabric scraps from the 70s, all uneven and kinda messy. She just shrugged and said 'we made do with what we had back then, it didn't have to be perfect to be special.' Do you think modern design focuses too much on being flawless?

That "didn't have to be perfect to be special" line hits hard. I see it everywhere now, like how a worn-in book feels better than a brand new one.

Honestly yeah, it's like the little flaws are what make things real. My favorite mug has a chip in it, but that's why I always grab it first. Tbh we're so used to chasing perfect photos and new stuff that we forget how good "broken in" feels. It's the same with people, you know? The best friendships aren't the flawless ones, they're the ones where you've seen each other mess up. That line sticks because it's true for pretty much everything.

My buddy's old truck broke down twice on our road trip, and those were the best parts.
