Warning: My fabric swatch books are turning into decoration

I used to spend whole afternoons feeling different fabrics in those big books. Now we just click through colors on a computer, and it feels flat. Last month, I got some material that looked perfect online but felt cheap in person. It's annoying how the design process lost that hands-on step. Kind of makes me wish for the old days.

My cousin bought a couch based on web photos last year. It arrived looking nothing like the sample, all stiff and wrong to the touch. She ended up keeping it because returns were a hassle. That whole thing made me miss touching stuff before you buy. Now I drag my husband to stores just to feel materials. Screens just don't cut it for knowing what you're getting.

Once ordered velvet that felt like plastic.

Did you check the material label first?

Ugh, I feel this in my soul. I bought some "linen blend" pants online last summer that looked amazing on the model. They showed up and felt like wearing a crunchy paper bag. My own fault for just clicking add to cart without a second thought. I'm trying to be better about reading those tiny description details now, but it's a work in progress for sure.
