Just lost a whole morning in Austin to a hidden concrete footing

Tbh, I was setting a post and the auger hit something solid, turned out to be an old slab from a shed the homeowner 'forgot' to mention. Anyone else have a good way to check for buried junk before you start digging?

Ever try calling the city for old property records? Might show where the last owner put stuff.

Honestly it's just part of the job. You can't find everything, even with a detector. Sometimes you just hit rock and have to deal.

My cousin swore by a metal detector until he found a whole buried car battery. What do you even do with that?
