Rant: That week in June when everything went sideways on a 400-foot privacy fence job

Storms rolled in on Tuesday, the post hole digger broke down Wednesday, and by Friday I realized the customer's property line was actually 8 feet further back than the survey stakes showed, so has anyone else had a job where the survey was just plain wrong?

Oh man, a buddy of mine had a survey off by 12 feet once...

Funny thing nobody talks about though - 12 feet off could actually save someone money depending on where the error was. Like if that extra 12 feet was on the back property line and backed up to a greenbelt or something, you might end up with a bigger yard than you paid for. Had a neighbor who's survey was off by about 8 feet into a drainage easement nobody used anyway. He just kept it quiet and enjoys the extra space for his garden. Your buddy might want to double check which direction that 12 feet went before getting too upset.
