Showerthought: Chain link gets too much hate from fence snobs.

Chain link is ugly but lasts forever with no upkeep.

So with those colored vinyl coatings, what's the price difference compared to regular chain link? I'm curious if the nicer look comes with a big jump in cost or if it's still the cheap option it's always been. Seems like the main sell is looking better without losing the low upkeep.

Did you see that thing about how chain link is actually getting a makeover with colored vinyl coatings? I read some places are using green or black chain link to blend in with gardens better. It still has all the no-maintenance benefits but looks way less industrial. Makes you wonder if the fence snobs just haven't seen the updated versions.

Admit I used to turn my nose up at chain link fences too. Then I saw a green one wrapped around a community garden and it actually looked nice. Now I feel silly for judging them based on the rusty versions from my childhood.

In my neighborhood, there's a park with a green chain link fence. It looks okay, but it's still just a fence. People are talking about it like it's some huge design breakthrough. I get that it looks better than rusty old chain link, but is it really that important? It serves the same purpose and costs about the same from what I've heard. At the end of the day, it's just a way to keep things in or out, not a fashion statement.
