I'm tired of people ignoring the historic mill pond for the shiny new plaza

The pond's morning fog and old stones have more soul than all that polished concrete (trust me on this).

That mill pond's water lilies have been filtering runoff since the 1920s, something no drainage system in the new plaza can match. Those old stones act like a sponge, slowing down floods after heavy rain. But now with all that concrete, where does the water go? Straight into the sewers, overloading them. Doesn't that just push the problem downstream?

Never considered how paving just moves the water problem.

Yeah that "push the problem downstream" part is exactly it. Just feels like we keep screwing things up and the water's gotta go somewhere.

Wait what? The water lilies have been cleaning the water since the 1920s? That's insane, I had no idea it was that old. They just paved right over a system that's been working for a century. No way some new drains are gonna be better than that, it's just gonna cause more problems.
