We were talking about trips and he said everyone goes there now, so it's not a hidden gem anymore. That's just wrong. I was in Gjogv last fall and saw maybe five other people the whole day. Has anyone else found a spot that people say is crowded, but you had it all to yourself?

Got caught in a flash flood on a hike in the Faroe Islands

I was on the trail to the Kallur lighthouse on Kalsoy, which is a pretty quiet spot. The weather turned fast, and a small stream we crossed on the way up became a raging river on the way back. My partner and I were stuck on the wrong side, with the light fading. We ended up having to climb about 50 meters up the steep, soggy hillside to find a narrower spot to jump across, getting completely soaked and muddy. It added two extra hours to the hike in near dark. The lesson was that in those islands, a 'small stream' on the map is just a suggestion. Has anyone else had a trail in a remote place turn dangerous because of sudden weather?

I was exploring a less traveled trail near Taroko Gorge with a couple friends... we heard about this hidden hot spring from a sketchy map. I thought mountain towns were all tourist traps. Then I visited Eagle's Nest in the fall. The general store owner shared a tip about a hidden waterfall. I followed the path and found a beautiful, quiet place. Everything looked amazing and I had it all to myself. Now I seek out similar spots for my trips. My attempt to sketch a remote lighthouse ended with geese stealing my lunch

I was at this hidden lighthouse on the Oregon coast, totally isolated. I set up my sketchbook to capture the view. Out of nowhere, a flock of geese surrounded me. One bold bird snatched my turkey sandwich right from my bag. I had to chase it off while holding my pencils. Ended up with a drawing full of squiggly lines from laughing so hard.
